Carolyn was one of my best friends at MHS. She, Ellen Morris and I were the Three Musketeers! Carolyn and I kept in touch over the years and my son, Dylan, was born on the April birthday of one of her children. I still remember standing, with tears streaming down my face, in the kitchen in my New Jersey house when I read about her death in a letter from my aunt. Of course, I knew how serious her illness was but she fought such a brave battle that I was sure she would beat the cancer.

I still miss you, Carolyn, and cherish the memories of our friendship.

Carolyn and I were in the same 4-H Club: Muskingum Valley Builders. What fun we had at every meeting and at Camp Hervida! She lived on Muskingum Drive not far from my cousin, Nancy McKenna, and we used to visit back and forth. I remember one night at Nancy's house when the 4-H group met and stayed outside on the nice evening. Carolyn, Nancy, and I made up a DUMB song, just to be silly. Now, almost sixty years later, the words and tune are still in my head: "I understand just how you feel; I can't reveal the way you steal; Now this concludes our little tune; If you don't like it, tell Daniel Boone; and he will tell you, you are a goon; Who flies a rocket to the moon!" And the tune is even worse than the words! Over the years, we drifted apart, but I'll always remember Carolyn and her mom and dad.
