Butch loved to play golf and he and I kept saying that we should get a game together at the Marietta Country Club. Finally we ran into each other there in the parking lot when my wife and i were visiting town with friends. I introduced him to everyone and he was very friendly and we joked about our "match". I told Butch that we (myself and friends) were going to have dinner that evening at Austyn's after our golf game. On number one tee I swung and hit a decent drive. Over to my right I heard Butch in his car comment on the drive and our future match together. Later at the restaurant with our friends who should show up other than Butch. He wanted to know if everyone was having a good time in Marietta and if there was anything he could do to make the visit better. He was that kind of person. Very decent and friendly.

We finally did get that match with Butch, my wife and I. We enjoyed covering all the years from Washington grade school to the present.

So long good friend. May God's Grace shine upon you. You'll be missed by many, I know you are missed by me,
